  7. Flood alert

Areas affected: Groundwater flooding in the High Wycombe area

    ACTIVE

Started at: 10:29 BST on Sun 29 March

Flooding is possible - be prepared

92彩票网平台Groundwater levels have responded to rainfall during February and the start of March and have risen at our observation borehole in Piddington in the Radnage Community and Hughendon Valley area. Groundwater levels are above normal for this time of year and have now reached a level where communities may be affected within the next few weeks by flooding from groundwater.

92彩票网平台We expect levels to continue to rise slowly over the next few days and weeks. Low-lying land and roads will therefore be at risk of flooding. Due to the nature of groundwater behaviour, this situation could continue for several weeks or longer.

We are continuing to monitor groundwater levels and will update this message tomorrow (30/3/20).

    ACTIVE

Started at: 19:20 GMT on Sat 28 March

Flooding is possible - be prepared

92彩票网平台Groundwater levels in the Salisbury Plain are now falling across the area. However, groundwater levels remain high and we believe there remains a possibility of flooding of fields and roads for Cholderton, Collingbourne Ducis, Hanging Langford, Hindon, Hurdcott, Idmiston, Newton Tony, Orcheston, Porton, Salisbury, Shipton Bellinger, Shrewton, Stratford Sub Castle, Tidworth, Tilshead, Tisbury, Wilton, Winterbourne Stoke and Woodford. Residents are advised to ensure property flood resilience measures are in place and that pumps are working where they have been installed. The Met Office forecasts the current spell dry and settled weather to continue. Some borehole information can be found at http://flood-warning-information.service.gov.uk/river-and-sea-levels. ACTIVE

Started at: 19:17 GMT on Sat 28 March

Flooding is possible - be prepared

River levels remain high but slowly dropping at the Ringwood Old Cottage river gauge as a result of the ground being saturated. The situation is improving but we expect river levels to remain high for some time and the risk of flooding along the River Avon valley between Ringwood and Christchurch remains. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near floodwaters and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers which may be flooded. The Met Office forecasts the dry and settled weather to continue. This message will be updated on Friday 3/04/20, or as the situation changes.

Areas affected: Groundwater flooding in West Dean, Singleton, Charlton, East Dean and Chilgrove

    ACTIVE

Started at: 12:25 GMT on Fri 27 March

Flooding is possible - be prepared

92彩票网平台The weather forecast is predicted to remain dry for the next five days. High pressure could remain into April too, but perhaps with a greater chance of light (and normal) spring showers. Groundwater levels are falling and will continue to fall with the predominantly dry weather. In the communities, groundwater is falling slowly – by about 3 centimetres a day, but levels have already fallen by 40cm from their peak this winter and are a similar distance below the surface. Higher up the valleys – at our boreholes in Chilgrove and near Cocking – groundwater is falling at a quicker rate, approximately 40cm each day. Groundwater levels are now at a level similar to Christmas. It will still take weeks until groundwater levels are more normal, but evidence of groundwater flood impacts are becoming less obvious. Sewerage infiltration will continue to reduce. We will continue to monitor the weather forecast. We will update this message by 17:00 03/04/2020.

Areas affected: 92彩票网平台Groundwater flooding in the Lambourn Valley catchment

    ACTIVE

Started at: 92彩票网平台09:40 GMT on Thu 26 March

Flooding is possible - be prepared

Groundwater levels remain high at our Longacre and Northfield Farm observation boreholes in the Lambourn Valley. Groundwater levels have reached a level where communities may be affected, particularly in the Mile End area. Levels have remained stable over the last week. Levels at the Longacre observation borehole are just below the level where we would expect to see flooding impacts and there may already be locations where groundwater is flooding at the surface. Low-lying land and roads will be at risk of flooding first. Property flooding is possible in the longer-term. Due to the nature of groundwater behaviour, this situation could continue for several weeks or longer and the speed at which flooding will occur will be dependent on rainfall conditions. The forecast is for a drier week with potential for light rain showers at times. We are continuing to monitor groundwater levels and will update this message next week, by 2 April 2020, or as the situation changes.

Flooding is possible - be prepared

The Groundwater level at Bishop’s Sutton remains very high, but stable. This week, groundwater may still cause cellar flooding in a small number of properties. It may also be preventing septic tanks from operating effectively. Over the next 5 days, the weather should remain fairly dry, and levels will fall. Initially, any rate of fall will be slow, perhaps by only 1cm every couple of days. We continue to monitor the forecast. If you use pumps to help reduce water levels, please ensure they can operate. This Flood Alert will be updated by 15:00 on Monday 30/03/2020.
